Murray Derraugh

Murray Derraugh, an associate for The Alta Group based in Canada, has more than 25 years of management experience in both the manufacturing and the financial services sectors. He has worked for leasing and credit card companies in sales and operations senior management roles.

Murray is currently the editor-in-chief of the Canadian Lease Education On-line (“CLEO”) program for the Canadian Finance & Leasing Association. Together with his business partner Hugh Swandel, they brought this education program to Canada from the United Association of Equipment Leasing, revised the content for use in Canada, incorporated Fleet Leasing into the Equipment Leasing program, and modified the material for use in a virtual classroom setting.

Murray’s forte is sharing best practices with lessors through operations and system reviews, and through the creation of credit, collection and operation documentation. He has created customized sales training programs, advised clients on the development of credit scorecards, developed business resumption plans, and managed software conversion projects.

Murray has spent the last several years as a management consultant in his own firm and as a senior vice president of Swandel and Associates, a management consulting firm specializing in lease finance. He previously was a senior manager in portfolio management for CUETS, the MasterCard affiliate for the credit union system that also serviced the President’s Choice MasterCard program; spent several years with National Leasing Group in a variety of roles including director of credit and Western Canada sales manager; and founded and was general manager of Vision Credit, National’s non-conventional credit division.
