MIGUEL VARA LUNA
Miguel Vara, a principal based in Spain, brings more than 30 years’ experience in asset finance, banking and corporate finance to Alta clients. His knowledge and relationships in the Spanish corporate and banking market provide complementary expertise to Alta in order to cover a wide range of products and customers.
Miguel began his career in banking, working for Lloyds Bank and Continental Illinois National Bank, where he was Vice-President responsible for the Trade Finance and Structured Finance operations of the Spanish branch. Later, he was appointed Director of Corporate Finance in FG Inversiones Bursátiles, a private stock-broking company that was finally purchased by Merrill Lynch.

In the late 1980s, Miguel joined Banesto, one of the largest Spanish banks, becoming General Manager of LeaseBanesto two years later with responsibility for developing the corporate business sector. In 1993, he became General Manager of Banesto Leasing, the retail business, and oversaw the merging of the two arms, resulting in a company that provides global leasing services.
Miguel then spent six years in ING Lease, where he was Chairman and CEO of its Spanish subsidiary. Immediately prior to joining The Alta Group, he was an independent mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance consultant.
