CHARLES TAYLOR

In his 31 years in the leasing industry, Charles Taylor, principal, has built a distinguished career in business development and management in the United Kingdom. He launched, managed and sold numerous leasing companies during his 20 years with North West Securities Ltd. (Bank of Scotland), but his impressive ability to turn around losses and drive growth is best illustrated in his work as managing director of Sovereign Finance.

At Sovereign, he turned cumulative losses of £145 million into a £7 million profit and then sold the business to Alliance & Leicester (A&L). Charles ran Sovereign for A&L after the sale and also became managing director of Girobank and commercial banking director for A&L with profit responsibility for circa £100 m p.a., achieving substantial profits before leaving to form his own consultancy, Charles Taylor Management Ltd.

Charles, who joined The Alta Group in 2003, is first and foremost an accomplished strategist, adept at identifying a business's drivers, its competitive advantage and its place in the market while charting a course for future growth and success. He's a team player who enjoys keeping a hand in the businesses he helps develop and steering them through changing market and economic conditions. He primarily assists Alta with business development and strategic planning projects. He takes chairman and non-executive positions on boards.

His extensive contacts in the UK leasing industry assist him in locating, evaluating and seizing opportunities for clients. He has held numerous leadership positions in the Finance & Leasing Association, including chairman of the asset finance division.
