Rafael Ramirez

Rafael, an associate based in Bogota, Colombia, is an attorney with additional degrees in economics and in international financial law. His knowledge of local laws and international finance laws and trends provides critical legal support for Alta customers undertaking projects in Colombia and other Latin American countries. Organizations that have benefited from his work include the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank, and FEDELEASING, a federation of leasing companies in Colombia.

Rafael was educated in Colombia, the United States and United Kingdom. He has more than 15 years experience as a private legal counselor, five of them in litigation. Early in his career he worked for Colorado State University as an research associate within the economic research field. Rafael later served as an assistant attorney for Grupo Suramericana, one of the most important financial groups in Colombia, and thereafter as the head of the legal department at Suleasing Internacional. He participated in the structuring of Grupo Suramericana's financial operations in Colombia and Central America, as well as the creation of the company's new subsidiaries.
