Project Financing Options Leads Topics at Latin American Rail Conference
Finance executives to explore funding solutions in current economic environment at strategic forum for railroad and transportation industry
MIAMI, FL, June 21, 2010 — Latin Rail 2010 to be held here June 22-23 features a consultant from the Latin American Region (LAR) of The Alta Group to speak about financing opportunities in the LAR rail industry.
To be held at the Omni Colonnade in Miami, FL, the conference will cover a variety of topics, including privatization, modernization and development, finance and investment opportunities, management and logistics.
Rafael Castillo-Triana, a principal of The Alta Group – a consulting group dedicated to the Leasing industry – and Chairman of the Emerging Markets Task Force of the Rail Working Group, will be a key participant in a panel on “Rail financing - orchestrating project funding while preparing for tomorrow’s expansion.”
Castillo-Triana has previously been a keynote speaker at the World Leasing Convention on several occasions. He also has represented the Colombian government in the drafting of the national convention for international financial leasing developed through the UNIDROIT convention. As an expert in international leasing law, he has published two books on leasing, written numerous papers, prepared speeches and lectured at universities and law schools in the U.S. He is also founder and CEO of FTAA Consulting.
“Rail and rail equipment financing is increasingly more crucial to fuel economic development in Emerging Markets,” Castillo-Triana said. “This is the first event planned to comprehensively address both opportunities and challenges in developing clean and efficient transportation in the 21st Century.”
He also said attendees will learn here about the benefits stemming from the Cape Town Convention system, designed to help mitigate risk in financing rail transportation in the LAR.
Conference attendees will include Latin America’s top project management and engineering consultants, banks and financiers, rail operators and members of consortiums, as well as government and transportation officials from throughout the region.
