Alta Principal to Address European Leasing at Russian Association Conference

Leasing in Russia is at an exciting phase in its evolution. It is a young but rapidly growing and developing industry, increasing its penetration of the international leasing market and fast becoming a major player on the global stage. Leasing has tremendous potential in Russia's ambitious plan to invest $1 trillion in modernising industry and infrastructure over the next few years with private investors expected to play a leading and increasingly visible role.
Alta Principal Alun Richards will be giving a presentation on the European experience of raising finance for leasing companies at the Russian Association of Leasing Companies' (Rosleasing) international conference on 26 November in Moscow. The event's theme is "Leasing Activity: Risk Assessment and Financing" and it will aim to identify the main problems associated with funding leasing and the best approach to evaluating the financial standing and creditworthiness of leasing companies.
Alongside Richards in the session on the international experience of raising finance will be William Verhelle, Chairman of the US Equipment Leasing and Finance Association, and senior representatives of the China Leasing Business Association of CAEFI (China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment) and Rabobank.
Alun Richards said: "Today's very challenging environment for the funding of leasing businesses is having an even more dramatic impact on emerging markets like Russia where the global downturn has delivered a double blow of lower commodity prices coupled with significant capital outflow. Rosleasing is addressing these challenges by bringing in an array of global experts to debate the issues and suggest possible solutions."
The conference will address a comprehensive range of topical issues including raising finance for Russian leasing companies; risk management; financial transparency as a strategic advantage; tax risks and security matters.
